Home Analyzer
Learn about your home's energy use room by room with NSTAR's Home Analyzer. This interactive online tool lets you get quick estimates on your homes energy use, while providing great tips on ways you can save energy in each room of your house.

The Home Analyzer also can calculate your carbon footprint, show how much you can save by switching from incandescent to compact fluorescent lights, provide energy use information on many home appliances from a clothes washing machine to your microwave oven, compare the energy costs of new plasma and LCD televisions to traditional TVs, show how much you can save with a programmable thermostat and much more.

MassSAVE (Espaņol)
Energy efficiency specialists will answer your energy-saving questions and determine your eligibility for a Home Energy Assessment. The assessment includes an analysis of your home's energy use, advice for saving energy and rebate offers on recommended energy improvements.

NSTAR customers who heat their homes with oil or propane are also eligible for mail-in rebates on various high efficiency products. More information, including rebate forms, is available in PDF format. Available mail-in rebates include:

  • A $25 rebate toward the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR-qualified thermostat that controls an oil- or propane-fired heating system.
  • A $10 rebate per unit for ENERGY STAR-rated replacement windows with a U-Factor of .35 or less.
  • Up to a $1,000 rebate toward the purchase of a new high efficiency oil- or propane-fired heating system.
  • A $300 rebate for customers replacing an existing oil- or propane-fired tankless or freestanding hot water heater with an indirect fired water heater.

Additionally, 75 percent off up to $2,000 toward insulation upgrades and air sealing are available. Currently 0 percent financing is available for qualified customers from the HEAT Loan program. Please call 800-632-8300 or visit www.masssave.com for more information.

Energy Efficiency Program for Lower Income Customers
If you currently receive NSTAR's Discount Rate, you may be eligible for a free home energy consultation, which may include the installation of conservation measures and refrigerator metering. Your rate code and usage information appears on your NSTAR bill. If you qualify and would like more information, please contact your local Community Action or Heating Assistance Program. ENERGY STAR: Your Partner In Energy Efficiency
NSTAR is proud to be a partner with ENERGY STAR, a collaboration between the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This collaboration focuses on teaching consumers about the benefits of energy efficient home appliances and other home products.

The ENERGY STAR label has been created to help consumers quickly and easily identify home appliances and other products that save energy. Look for the label when you are remodeling or replacing equipment in your home.

ENERGY STAR Labeled Lighting
ENERGY STAR labeled light bulbs and fixtures meet high standards for energy efficiency without sacrificing performance or design. Energy-efficient bulbs use up to 75 percent less energy and last as much as 10 times longer than other bulbs. So you'll save on energy and replacement costs. And ENERGY STAR labeled light fixtures use 50 to 75 percent less energy than conventional fixtures while providing the same amount of light. They're available in a variety of styles to fit your home decor, including table lamps, torchieres, ceiling/wall mounted lighting and more.

ENERGY STAR Labeled Appliances
NSTAR recommends looking for the ENERGY STAR the next time you buy an appliance, such as a refrigerators or air conditioners.

Currently, NSTAR is offering a $50 mail-in rebate toward the purchase of ENERGY STAR-qualified refrigerators bought between January 23, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Please note, this rebate may not be combined with any other utility or energy efficiency service provider offer.

Cool Smart ENERGY STAR Central Air Conditioning Program
Did you know ENERGY STAR-labeled central air conditioning units, properly installed, can save you up to 20 percent on your cooling costs? To help with the purchase of a new ENERGY STAR central air conditioner, NSTAR is offering a mail-in rebate of up to $600 for the purchase and installation of high efficiency central air conditioning units and air source heat pumps that meet or exceed the ENERGY STAR minimum standard Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 14.5, Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 12, and a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) of 8.2 (for heat pumps only).

Residential Multi-Family Assessment Program
Are you a residential customer living in a multi-family facility, condominium or a complex with five or more dwelling units? If so, you may be eligible to participate in the Multi-Family Assessment Program. This program provides services to the entire complex through coordination with the owner, facility manager, or condominium association. Your facility may qualify for a comprehensive energy analysis, lighting upgrades, insulation, air sealing and other energy saving measures. Installation of some of the energy efficiency measures requires a co-payment.

Building a new home? Consider building an ENERGY STAR home. They're certified to be up to 30 percent more efficient than other homes and NSTAR provides financial assistance and expertise for builders to construct new homes to ENERGY STAR specifications.
