One of the most important lessons in life is that of energy conservation. Learning this valuable lesson will help today’s students become the responsible citizens of tomorrow while learning how to preserve vital resources and ensure a brighter future for themselves and the planet. NSTAR is pleased to offer the following programs to educators to help them teach our future generations:
The NSTAR Challenge is a program for students grades K-12 living or attending school in a NSTAR Electric Community. Students have the opportunity to showcase their energy-efficiency knowledge through the program's various challenges. Each grade level is assigned a different activity relating to energy efficiency. First-, second-, and third-place winners are chosen from each grade's submissions. For more information, visit NSTARChallenge.com or email NSTARChallenge@nu.com.
Change A Light, Change The World Fundraiser
NSTAR offers schools in the NSTAR Electric territory a unique and educational fundraising opportunity. The “Change a Light, Change the World” fundraiser enables your school to raise much needed funds while teaching students about conserving energy.
Your school keeps 100 percent of the money collected from the fundraiser, with no limit on how much your school can earn. Also, NSTAR's Energy Efficiency team will provide your students with the light bulbs, at no cost to your school.
The program includes a kick-off event, educating students on energy-saving light bulbs and energy conservation. The event will also provide the students with an overview of the fundraising program, as well as explain the benefits of saving energy and how the money earned can benefit your school. The students are then encouraged to spread the word on energy conservation and sell the energy-efficient light bulbs provided by NSTAR.

NSTAR has created a new interactive game to teach students in grades K to 3 about energy conservation and saving energy. Students follow the path through Wattsville and learn ways to save energy. The show lasts 30 minutes for classes up to 50 students. To sign-up your class for a Wattsville experience, please call 617-929-2641or email NSTARWattsville@globe.com.
