- Never leave tree lights on when you are not home.
- Check for frayed wires before plugging in lights.
- Never string lights when they are plugged in.
- Use extension cords that are rated to carry the electrical loads connected to them.
- Don’t overload a circuit. An overloaded circuit could cause a fire.
- Use outlets with ground fault interrupters for outdoor lighting.
- Do not drive nails, staples or tacks through wiring insulation.
