To help educate our customers in both energy efficiency and electric safety, NSTAR offers Energy Efficiency World, ENERGYsmart Library and ENERGYsmart University.
Energy Efficiency World offers elementary and middle school students grades 3 to 7 vital information about energy efficiency and green power through interactive games (such as "Stop the Guzzler"), activities and experiments. Using material reviewed by educators and meeting National Science Standards for physical science and earth sciences, Energy Efficiency World motivates students to make energy-saving behavioral changes, and encourages them to help their families do the same.
Topics including an overview of various energy sources (including renewables and alternative vehicle fuels), tips for saving energy at home and at school, and a home energy inspection to bolster parental involvement. Teachers also have the ability to use specially prepared lesson plans and activities tailored to material covered on the site.
The ENERGYsmart Library is a vast online resource that will help you learn more about the energy used in your home. From electric heating to solar water heating, the library includes information on a number of different energy issues and technologies, and also includes a glossary of common energy terms.
The ENERGYsmart University contains a variety of courses, reference materials, labs and other information divided into seven "buildings" to help you learn about energy and energy-related issues.
