Thousands of walkers from across New England are lacing up their sneakers to stroll for a goal on Sunday, June 14, for the seventh annual NSTAR’s Walk for Children’s Hospital Boston. Since its inception in 2003, the Walk has raised $5 million to benefit Children’s Hospital’s pediatric research, patient care and community health programs.
“We applaud Children’s Hospital Boston for the important work they do everyday, in the communities we serve and beyond,” said Tom May, NSTAR Chairman, President and CEO. “I’m proud to say this Walk has become the cornerstone of our community involvement for children and families, as well as a great event and tradition for our employees.” NSTAR, which delivers electricity and natural gas to over 1.4 million customers in Massachusetts, is the named sponsor of the Walk. NSTAR is also lending additional expertise to promote and help increase participation in the Walk. More than 500 NSTAR employees will be walking this year. “We’re deeply grateful to NSTAR for supporting our walk for the third year. The company and its employees demonstrate a deep commitment to children and represent the powerful impact corporate support can have on our community,” says Sandra Fenwick, Children’s Hospital Boston President and COO. “The partnership not only increases awareness of the event, but also enables us to recruit more walkers and raise more funds.” Families looking for a fun, healthy weekend activity can register for either the 2- or 7-mile walk online or on-site at the Hatch Shell on the Charles River starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 14. Registration is $20 for adults; $5 for children 12 and under. Each adult walker must raise at least $150. For more information, visit www.childrenshospital.org/walk or call 866-303-WALK. |
